Croton (Codiaeum variegatum) is a tropical evergreen ornamental plant which belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family. It is a popular indoor plant kept in households worldwide. Croton is known for it's impressive leaves which come in a variety of rich autumn colors.
The leaves and trunk of the croton plant contain a caustic and vesicant latex which is rich in calcium oxalate. The seeds also contain a proteic phytotoxin.
